Built in 2006, the new Oaxaca Hilltop Apartment has three bedrooms, two full baths, a complete kitchen, a private rooftop deck and an always changing view of colonial Oaxaca and the surrounding mountains. You can walk down the 'escalaras' (see photo), a shady stairway to the center of town. Within 15 minutes you can be sitting at a sidewalk restaurant on the Zocolo, or exploring museums or shopping for the hand made rugs and art that Oaxaca is famous for. Excellent hiking park behind the apartment. Optional day-tours to archaeological sites and mountain parks.

Colonial Oaxaca was founded by the Spanish in 1529. The town's astonishing treasures include one of Mexico's most splendid churches and several of it's finest museums and buildings. The climate is spring-like and pleasant year-around. The native inhabitants are descendants of the Zapotec and Mixtec Indians. There are over 2,300 archaeological sites. Oaxaca is home to excellent cooking and Spanish language schools. Restaurants are known for mole, and tamales, but most food varieties are available.
